Summary

The Bike2Work project is a Pan-European approach to increasing commuting by bicycle, headed by the ECF. With 12 member organisations from across Europe, the project targets both employers and employees to encourage a shift away from motorised commuting towards a healthier and more sustainable alternative. So far, the project has enjoyed great success, saving an estimated 8870 tonnes of fuel and 52299 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Key Deliverables / Outcomes

The main objective of Bike2Work is to encourage a significant modal shift from motorized commuting to cycling. Using a two-fold approach it targets both employees’ behaviour through Bike2Work campaigns, and encourages employers to meet the needs of cyclists. The result is bicycle-friendly employers and employees’ using a more sustainable form of commuting: cycling!
