About Us

Vision

Our vision is to create a healthier, more sustainable world by fostering cooperation and knowledge exchange among our 100+ member cycling organisations and beyond.

Who We Are

The World Cycling Alliance (WCA) is an international non-profit organisation registered in Brussels, Belgium.

Established in 2014, we bring together a diverse mix of bicycle advocacy organisations from around the globe, dedicated to promoting everyday cycling and micromobility.

Our board and members represent every inhabited continent on earth.

Mission Statement

  1. To provide a strong, unified and global non-government voice for cycling for transport and recreation. The WCA advocates for everyday cycling alongside the United Nations, Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, International Transport Forum, World Bank, International Road Assessment Program and other leading international groups.

  2. To support the worldwide exchange and delivery of bicycling knowledge, expertise and best practice interventions, as well as building cooperation among cycling associations and organisations globally.

Our Story

Legal Status

The WCA holds the legal status of an international non-profit (AISBL) under Belgian law. This ensures that our organisation operates transparently and adheres to the highest standards of governance, enabling us to focus on our mission of promoting cycling and reducing transport emissions. Governance

The World Cycling Alliance is governed by a Board of Directors elected by its member organisations to represent every continent. The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the WCA and ensuring the organisation remains true to its mission and values. The Board meets regularly online to discuss and make decisions on key issues, enabling the WCA to effectively advocate for cycling and micromobility at a global level.
